Goshen High School - Crimson Band & Guard: Max Mault - Asst. Band Director
Mr. Mault graduated from Wawaka High School, Wawaka, Indiana in 1964. He played trumpet with the 74th Army Band after attending the U.S. Naval School of Music in Norfolk, Virginia. From 1968-69 Mr. Mault spent a tour in Vietnam playing for Chief Warrant Officer Jackie Alexander's Rag-Time Show Band. After his military discharge, Mr. Mault traveled with the National Tour Group "Syndrome".
Mr. Mault received his B.A. in Music from Goshen College, Goshen, Indiana, in 1976, and a Master of Arts degree from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana in 1982. His public school career has been in the community of Goshen, having started in 1981 at Towncrest Junior high, now Goshen Middle School where his middle school bands have consistently received superior ratings. He serves as GMS music department chair and assists at Goshen High School. Under his direction, the Goshen Middle School Band has performed at the Indiana Music Educators Convention in Indianapolis, and the Goshen HS Auxiliary has been selected as the flagline for Hook's All State Marching Band. Mr. Mault was co-director of the Goshen High School marching band from 1987-2000.
Mr. Mault has been site host chair for the regional ISSMA Middle School Organizational Contest at Goshen Middle School for the past ten years. He is an adjudicator for ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Contests and has served as a guest conductor for numerous All State Regional Honor Bands. He has been a member of the Indiana State Music Certification Panel. and honored as a member of Who's Who of Young American Teachers. He has been teaching trumpet privately in Goshen for twenty-five years. Max and his wife Yvonne, live in Goshen and have five children.
