Josh Kaufman - Asst. Band Director

 


 Mr. Kaufman graduated from Goshen High School as Valedictorian in 1992.  He played baritone and euphonium with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps from 1993-1995 and was Horn Sergeant of the World Champion 1995 Cavaliers.  Mr. Kaufman received his B.A. in Physics and Music Education from Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana, in 1997 and his Master of Music in Saxophone Performance from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado, in 2000, graduating Magna Cum Laude from both Institutions. 

 

Mr. Kaufman taught High School and Middle School band for Sheridan School District in southwest Denver starting in 1999.  During his time at Sheridan High School, the marching band was twice State Champion and twice Runner-up in their class and the Concert Band made State Finals twice.  Mr. Kaufman was also a member of the Colorado Bandmasters Association's Marching Affairs Committee and was an adjudicator for the Rocky Mountain Percussion Association.  While in Denver Mr. Kaufman was a member of the Balinese orchestra Gamelan Tunas Mekar, playing traditional Indonesian instruments, and performed on saxophone with various music groups.

 

Mr. Kaufman began teaching at Goshen High School in 2006.  His teaching responsibilities include Symphonic Band, Crimson Jazz Ensemble, Crimson Marching Band, assisting the Wind Ensemble.  Mr. Kaufman also oversees the Winter Guard and assists with the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade concert bands at Goshen Middle School.
