Originally from southern Indiana area, Chris Smith is a 1998 Graduate of Ball State University, where he performed with the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and Orchestra. He was also a performing member of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from 1995 to 1996. Chris then became an arranger and instructor for the Phantom Regiment Cadets (a.k.a. Phantom Legion) from 1997 to 1999. Meanwhile, Chris had also been teaching for several high schools across Indiana, as well as Kentucky. Chris moved to Northern Indiana in 1999 where he taught and arranged for many of the area high schools.

In his spare time Chris enjoys sleeping, watching hockey, rally racing, performing with the Latin-Jazz Quintet Z-Bop, eating oysters on triscuits with Frank's hot sauce, hitting things and grilling. Chris's favorite meat is probably pork chops. Chris also enjoys conducting experiments to see if you really can fit a square peg into a round hole.
Chris's favorite color used to be green, but he is growing partial to blue. Some of Chris's favorite musical groups include but are not limited to: Gentle Giant, Mahovishnu Orchestra, Bill Chase, Weather Report, Return to Forever, King Crimson, Cemel, Larry Coryell's 11th House, Deep Purple and KISS.
